MLB (World Series 2013) Boston Red Sox vs. St.Louis Cardinals

Today marks the 24th of October, Thursday Manila time,23rd Wednesday on the other hand in the United States. Part of me and babe's opposite preference when it comes to sports is Team Yankees,NY for me and his is Red Sox,Boston in Major League Baseball. Tho it was so unfortunate for my rooting team to get into the finals, his team made it. ☺ Early this morning, while I'm switching channels I was able to catch the live televised of World Series game no. 1 against Cardinals at 5th inning. Maybe I'm not too excited for it but more so in full support with babe's team instead and also  it finally hits me that its getting near to end. I've waited for this like I always do yearly with a great influence of my mom and with babe too but now were counting days.. I missed a lot of games, episodes and highlights. And since lucky it was for Boston battling for the championship, this may be their year and I want babe to at least be updated and thought of archiving articles and wright-ups about this season with his red men.

David Ortiz, Mystical Cat Person, Toys With St. Louis Cardinals, Red Sox Win First Game 8-1
It has long been rumored that David Ortiz belongs to a mystical and ancient group of Cat People. Some say they were wiped out with the City of Atlantis. Others say they simply went into hiding. And still others claim that they decided to blend in with mankind. Except for their massive strength, ability to see in the dark, and the joy they received from toying with other humans, there’s no telling them apart.

David Ortiz revealed himself as part of this elusive and secretive group tonight. Sure, the rumors were always there, what with the home runs, late-game heroics, and love of killing mice and giving them to John Farrell, but tonight, he took it to a whole new level. There’s no denying it now, the Cat People are real and they’re tired of living in secret.

In the first inning, Ortiz batted at Matt Carpenter and Pete Kozma, hitting a sure double play ball, but discombobulating them into committing an error. (It was also very nearly one of the worst World Series calls by an umpiring staff when Kozma’s missed catch was originally called an out.) But this was all part of Ortiz’s plan to demoralize the Cardinals. Inches away from a double play, they instead got nothing.

In the bottom of the second, Ortiz came to the plate with the bases loaded and hit another deep fly ball to right field. With that satisfying wood-like sound off the bat, the fans must have thought they were seeing his second grand slam of the postseason. But that would have been too easy. Instead Ortiz hit the ball over the fence, but just within Carlos Beltran’s reach as he leaned into the bullpen to make the catch. Of course, a run still came home on the sacrifice and Beltran had to leave the game with sore ribs, proof that Ortiz was now torturing his food.

In the fifth, proving that he could do whatever he pleased, just like a cat does when it turns its nose up at its favorite food, Ortiz singled up the middle. The Cardinals were bleeding, cries for “Neuter and Spay your Pets” rising from the crowd.

And finally, with the Cardinals tired and Ortiz finally prepared to go for the kill, he hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the 7th to make the game 7-0. There would be no coming back for the Red Birds, the Red Sox taking game one against Adam Wainwright who had allowed a whopping four earned runs in his previous three postseason starts.

After the game, Ortiz licked himself clean, ate a piece of fresh salmon, found a warm spot by the space heater, and curled up into an adorable ball. Though he looked friendly and nice, there’s no denying it: David Ortiz’s mission on Earth is to destroy bird-like creatures.  The only question now is when does the Cat Person vs. Human war begin?

Carlos Beltran Robbed David Ortiz Of A Grand Slam But Ended Up In The Hospital With A Rib Injury (GIF)

In just his second inning of World Series play, Carlos Beltran made exactly the sort of spectacular play that is fast making him an October legend. Unfortunately, it sent him to the hospital.

With the Red Sox threatening to end the competitive portion of Game 1 of the 2013 World Series early, Beltran reached over the wall in right-center field to rob David Ortiz of a grand slam in the second inning. Boston already held a 4-0 lead when Ortiz drove a four-seam fastball from Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright deep into right-center field toward the home bullpen. Not far from the spot where Detroit Tigers right fielder Torii Hunter tumbled over that same wall attempting to rob Ortiz of a grand slam in Game 2 of the ALCS, Beltran managed to snag the ball before it touched down beyond the chest-high barrier.

The reprieve for the scuffling Cardinals would be short-lived, however, as Beltran would need to leave the game with an injury seemingly suffered as he crashed into the wall while making the run-saving grab. After initially announcing that Beltran had been removed from the game due to a right rib contusion, the Cardinals revealed that he had been taken to a local hospital for examination.
